Welcome to Life and Style by Jilian, where I believe a well-organized kitchen is the heart of a happy home. I’m Jilian. I’m excited to present top kitchen organization tips and products to enhance your kitchen’s functionality.
The kitchen is often considered the heart of the home. It is a gathering place where families come together to cook, eat, and connect. An ultimate kitchen organization guide will help keep this sacred space a well-oiled machine.
You will learn how to declutter countertops. You will also learn to organize drawers and pantry spaces. These practical methods will help you maintain your ultimate kitchen organization all year round.
So, let’s dive in and transform your kitchen into a beautifully organized oasis that reflects your life and style!
Remove Everything
First, remove everything from your cabinets, pantry, and closets. It’s best to start fresh with empty spaces to see what you’re working with.
This gives you a great chance to dig in and deep clean. Focus on those places that don’t get wiped down often. Clean out every cabinet, pantry, closet, and even fridge.
This may seem like an intense starting point, but trust me, you’ll feel much better organizing a super-clean kitchen. Knowing those hard-to-reach and overlooked places are dirt and dust-free gives me such joy!
The hard part is over now. It’s time to move on to getting everything where it will live from now on.
Decluttering
Decluttering your kitchen offers benefits that go beyond tidying up. One primary advantage is the ease of cleaning and keeping it clean. Keeping your kitchen tidy is the reason we are here, right?
So, where better to start than the ultimate kitchen organization rule #1…..declutter everything!
With fewer items on countertops and in cabinets, wiping down surfaces becomes a quick task, saving you time and effort.
Additionally, decluttering creates more workspace, allowing you to prep meals and cook without feeling cramped or overwhelmed.
Decluttering your kitchen cabinets will help you eliminate expired or unwanted/forgotten items lingering in the back. It can also bring your pantry up to date with everything.
Now, I will tackle those hard-to-keep-organized areas: the cabinets, drawers, fridge, and pantry.
First, we handle the tedious tasks. Then, we can look forward to the fun part at the end—the styling!
The Cabinets
Organizing your cabinets can vastly improve your kitchen’s functionality and visual appeal. Many organizing aids are available to help you make the most of your cabinet space.
Stackable shelves and storage containers can help maximize storage capacity. Additional drawers and cabinet door racks keep items easily accessible.
Clear storage bins and labeled containers can also help categorize and streamline kitchen storage. This makes meal prep and putting together that grocery list more efficient.
Additionally, adjustable shelving and pull-out organizers can help customize your cabinets to fit your needs and your pots and pans.
You may want to declutter your countertops or create a more organized cabinet. Many options can help you achieve a well-organized and efficient kitchen.
Here are some of my favorites that help keep my kitchen cabinets organized. I could not live without the pull-out drawers. They make such a difference!
The Drawers
No more junk drawer! Organizing your kitchen drawers is a game-changer when it comes to kitchen efficiency.
Many tools and organizers are available to help you achieve a well-organized drawer space.
First, drawer dividers are perfect for separating utensils, keeping them neatly arranged and easy to find.
Next, an adjustable drawer organizer allows you to customize the layout to fit your needs. Whether you’re storing cutlery, measuring spoons, or cooking gadgets, using an adjustable organizer makes a huge difference.
They even make organizers for plastic wrap, foil, and plastic baggies! These not only help keep you organized but also add a touch of chic to your organizing routine.
Finally, use drawer inserts with multiple compartments. These inserts can keep everything in its place and work well for smaller items like spice packets or tea bags.
Magnetic strips hung on the wall are also great for storing knives, freeing up valuable drawer space. They can also add a touch of Chef life charm to your kitchen.
With the right tools and organizers, you can transform kitchen drawers into functional spaces. An organized kitchen makes meal prep a breeze.

The Pantry
Organizing your pantry is not only about functionality. These days, it can also be about adding style to your kitchen space. The ultimate kitchen organization session wouldn’t be complete without highlighting the pantry.
Start by decluttering and removing expired items to create a clean slate. We all have those items hiding in our pantry that we have forgotten about. Time for them to go!
Use clear storage containers for items like pasta, grains, and snacks to keep them fresh and visible. Labeling these containers adds a decorative element while ensuring everything has its place.
Next, consider using baskets or bins to group similar items, adding texture and style to your pantry shelves. These storage bins make it easy to see everything you have, keeping expired items out of the way. They also keep your pantry looking chic and fresh.
Finally, don’t forget to incorporate your style with decorative jars or baskets. Keeping my kid’s grab-and-go snacks in designated bins has been a game changer for efficiency.
Create a pantry that is not only functional but also a stylish focal point in your kitchen. The pantry of the past is long gone. Modern pantries introduce a new element of style to your kitchen.
Here are some fantastic options to help you level up your pantry:
The Refrigerator
Making your fridge space work for you is all about organization and efficiency.
To start, storage containers and racks should be used to maximize every inch of article space.
Clear storage containers are perfect for leftovers, snacks, and meal prep ingredients. They allow you to see what’s inside, so you can do this without rummaging through the fridge.
Next, you can use stackable bins and storage racks. These will create additional layers within your fridge, making accessing items at the back more manageable.
Also, consider using extra drawer organizers for fruits and vegetables to keep them fresh and easily accessible.
Incorporate these organizing tools to transform your fridge into a well-organized space. This will make meal prep and cooking a breeze.
I am including some must-haves for your fridge organization:
The Work Zone – AKA The Countertop
This is where you should have the least work to do. Most items should now have permanent housing for a successful ultimate kitchen organizational session. Place them in the cabinets, pantry, or fridge.
The counter is where most of the food prep is done. I know in my house it’s where a ton of crap ends up when entering the house. When arriving home from work, the hubs often leave the mail scattered across the counter.
With all this going on with your countertops, I believe less is more. The less you have on your counter daily, the less cluttered and unorganized it will look.
This is where you keep a few countertop necessities, like a utensil holder, cookie jar, and coffee pot. Try to keep as few items as possible. The fewer items on your counter, the less messy it looks.
With fewer necessities taking up counter space, you can add your style with accents.
Now, we can discuss the fun part: adding personal style to your kitchen to make it uniquely yours.
The Touches:
The kitchen’s style comes from the cabinets, countertops, and appliances. However, making it yours happens in the small touches.
Adding a personal twist is left to the countertops and wall space. When done thoughtfully, they can become the pop your kitchen needs.
Incorporating pieces that serve multiple purposes is a huge bonus.
For example, decorative jars or canisters can store pantry staples like pasta, rice, or flour. They add a touch of rustic charm to your countertops and keep ingredients fresh and easily accessible.
A stylish fruit bowl can double as a centerpiece for your kitchen island and serve your dining table. It showcases colorful fruits and adds a pop of color to the space.
Wall art, such as framed prints or paintings, can add personality and visual interest to bare walls. Decorative shelves can display cookbooks, plants, or other decor. If arranged appropriately, they can even hold dishes.
